Photo: Phill Magakoe A senior Public Service Association (PSA) official has been placed on special leave after he allegedly called two of his colleagues k******. The PSA confirmed on Monday that deputy general manager Manie de Clercq was at home after the allegations against him surfaced. According to a PSA staff member, who did not wish to be named, De Clercq allegedly used the derogatory term after two of his colleagues failed to attend a senior management meeting on Monday. "He passed a comment to one of the colleagues who was attending the meeting, saying that the k****** are not at the meeting," said the staff member. The PSA's general manager Daniel Adonis confirmed on Monday that De Clercq had been placed on special leave. "There are allegations that he made racial remarks (against his two colleagues)," said Adonis, adding that he had not yet received any statements. He said De Clercq had not been suspended as such and was placed on special leave. He added that he was surprised that the allegations had been made against De Clercq, who has been with the organisation for more than 30 years. "This came as a surprise to me, but I cannot prejudge," said Adonis. De Clercq declined to comment and referred all enquiries to Adonis. - Pretoria News ________________________________ This message contains information which is confidential, legally privileged, and protected by law.
