*ANC Media Statement, 29 March 2012* *On by-elections *The African National Congress successfully contested by-elections in the various parts of the country yesterday.Of the fourteen wards that held by-elections, the ANC managed to win in all but one.
We retained all our wards with an improved majority.Despite the heightened contestation, we were able to bring out record numbers of voters to ensure a resounding success particularly in the Nelson Mandela Metro in the Eastern Cape we won all our three wards with over a 90% margin.
This is a demonstration that the ANC remains the people's choice, because of its proximity to the people.Our people understand that the ANC has in its history demonstrated the resolve and the will to restore the dignity of our people and to work with them to improve their lives for the better.
