Cde Percy was born in the same year as the SACP was founded. He joined the party in 1948 following the National Party election victory of that year, when he was 27 (and when the Party was also 27). After many arrests, house-arrest and imprisonments he left the country on a exit-permit in 1961 and he still lives in London. He is a follower of the CU.
