ANC YOUTH LEAGUE GERT SIBANDE REGION CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO CDE MDUDUZI
COMFORT MANANA ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS DEPUTY MINISTER

14 June 2012

The ANC Youth League Gert Sibande Region in Mpumalanga would like to take this
opportunity to congratulate the newly appointed Deputy Ministers of Higher
Education, cde Mduduzi Comfort Manana a resident of the Region of the Lion of
the East. Cde Mduduzi Manana is currently serving in the National Executive
Committee of the ANC Youth League for the second time after being re-elected in
to the NEC in 2011. He cut his tooth into leadership and community activism in
his days at high school whilst still a student at the Cefubs Academy in
Nelspruit where he was the President of the SRC.

Comrade Manana is a graduate and leader who we believe will be able to assist
in providing strategic and political leadership to the Department of Higher
Education as it continues with the transformatio agenda of our post-matric
education. We believe that he will compliment the already existing vibrancy and
work hand in hand with Dr Blade Ndzimande in ensuring that improved quality and
increased access to post-matric education becomes a reality.

We are overwhelmed and impressed as the REC of Gert Sibande, an REC where cde
Manana was once a member by the confidence shown by cde President Zuma in one
of our products that we unanimously agreed to second and send during the 2009
Elections to go and serve the ANC at the National Assembly. We have always had
confidence in Cde Manana’s abilities hence it was us who lobbied and advocated
that he be re-elected into the NEC of the ANC Youth League in Gallagher last
year.

We firmly believe that the President did not make a mistake in ensuring that
our cry for generational mix is responded to. We view the appointment of Cde
Manana as a victory for the ANC Youth League and all pillars of the progressive
alliance. We were therefore dismayed, insulted and flabbergasted by the spate
of insults and attacks directed to the appointment of one of the youngest
members of parliament uttered by our ally in the PYA by the name of SASCO in
their statement released on Wednesday. We have noted with interest their
discomfort and we believe that if given the opportunity, we will be glad to
teach them about the processes of appointments to the National
Executive(Cabinet). We further urge all structures and components in the
Progressive Youth Alliance to rally behind Cde Manana to enable him to better
perform his duties.

We believe that Comrade Manana will continue to be beyond reproach and continue
to inspire confidence by working together with all stakeholders in the Higher
Education setup to adress all challenges currently faced by students. We
believe that he will be a custodian of all policy position on Higher Education
as advocated for by the PYA.

The ANC Youth League in Gert Sibande would like to remind Cde Manana of this
words as he continue to perform his duties:

“ Go to the people. Learn from them. Live with them. Start with what they know.
Build with what they have. The best of leaders when the job is done, when the
task is accomplished, the people will say we have done it ourselves.” Lao Tzu

We believe that you will never let down the young people of the region,
province and country, as well as betray the confidence demonstrated by
President Zuma in your abilities. We are confident that where ever the bones of
our former stalwarts in the mould of Gert Sibande, Nokuthula Simelane, Webster
Makhubu, Muziwakhe Ngwenya, Sibongile Nsibande, Musa Malinga, Brown Shongwe,
Mshefi Ndlovu and many other fallen heroes are lying, they are like us here
proud of your achievement and the will continue to guide and inspire you.

We wish Comrade Honourable Deputy Minister Manana well in his future endeavours.
