*CWU IS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PUBLIC PROTECTOR* * *
*20 June 2012* * * The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has lost trust in the Office of Public Protector, Ms Thuli Madonsela and her investigating team. CWU lodged a complaint with the Office of the Public Protector regarding the maladministration, deep-seated corruption and misuse of funds at the SA Post Office in April 2011. To this date, we are still waiting for a mere “preliminary report”. The Office of the Public Protector’s reluctance to deal speedily with the SA Post Office complaint from CWU leaves many questions unanswered. Could it be that Ms Madonsela sees no value in pursuing the SA Post Office as this may not result in accolades or appraisals? Could it be that the Public Protector cherry-picks which complaints to follow or not to follow on the basis of political storm such cases will stir in the country? Or does it have to do with the subjects involved? These are the questions that demand answers. As CWU, we will not be surprised that some complaints that have recently been lodged with this Office will receive priority at the expense of other urgent matters, explosive and dolomitic issues facing the SA Post Office.
