*SACP North West, 26 June 2012* *SACP North West Provincial General Council*The South African Communist Party {SACP} in the North West held a successful Provincial General Council {PGC} on Sunday 24th June 2012, at Matlosana to prepare for the coming 13th National congress to be held on the 11-15 July 2012, at Empangeni. The council was addressed by members of the Central Committee Cdes. Lechesa Tshenoli, Godfrey Olifant and ANC Provincial Chairperson, Cde Supra Mahumapelo.
The 256 delegates took this opportunity to assess the national and provincial socio-economic and political situation. In our assessment, we concluded that the South African Road to Socialism {SARS} document is a crucial document that will take the national democratic revolution to the higher level.
The SACP has demonstrated through the South African Road to Socialism that it is indeed a political university and a well to quench the revolutionary thirst of the workers and revolutionaries. This vanguard party of the working class is dedicated to its role of bringing an illuminating light during the dark hours of the revolution. When the imperialist forces are joining forces against working class and the poor; the party remains a reliable champion that is fearless and principled enough to lead the fight to free them from the shackles of poverty and inequality.
The current epoch in our revolution although challenging, it is not insurmountable and we are convinced that it offers us an opportunity to take the first steps in our march towards socialism. We draw our inspiration from our revolutionary fore bearers who were born from this part of our country, the North West, like Cdes Moses Kotane, J.B Marks etc.
These were man of indisputably distinguished ability, who could always be relied upon to provide answers to the day's serious political questions. These giant stalwarts made an invaluable contribution to the freedom of the human race and in the fight against exploitation of one human being by another both locally and internationally.
It is with this rich revolutionary history in mind, that the PGC expressed its utmost disgust at the current shenanigans in the African National Congress (ANC) in the province. We are confident that the ANC will overcome these tribulations perpetuated by the stewards of capital.
The SACP sends a message to those who are perpetrators of this tawdry subversion with the intent to capture and destroy the ANC. The ANC is not for sale and will be defended at all costs from this offensive. We therefore call upon all revolutionary members of the ANC inside the SACP and in other formations of the mass democratic movement to heed this clarion call.
We further commit ourselves to go to the furthest branch of the ANC to uproot the forces of imperialism in the form of tenderpreneurs that plunder the resources that is meant to for the poor. These forces will strive to destroy the revolutionary forces of the alliance as led by the ANC. Our responsibility is to build a strong ANC because a weak ANC is by implication a weak SACP and COSATU.
As directed by the PGC the provincial leadership of the SACP shall endeavour to build a strong ANC through joint political education and other campaigns that are intended to change the lives of our people for the better.
On the leadership question leading to the 13th congress of the SACP, it is our long held view that there has never been any crisis of leadership in communist organisations throughout the world including the SACP. Roles and responsibilities are accorded to the members based on the capacity and capability given the immediate tasks of the times of the revolution and therefore the current leadership is equal to the task. The General Secretary in particular has been under enormous attack from the stewards of imperialism both inside and outside of our organisations but still he has not disappointed the revolution, he was equal to the task of being criticised.
The same goes for the national chairperson who was able to juxtapose the two roles of the National Chairperson and the Secretary General. He did not fail even under constant pressure since he took his responsibilities in the ANC including making his tenure ungovernable
The SACP North West is going to the 13th National Congress of the SACP in Empangeni, Kwa Zulu Natal united behind the current leadership and will contribute towards a successful, united congress.
