*NUM Media Release, 17 July 2012* *NUM congratulates the SACP and President Zokwana*The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) congratulates the vanguard of the working class, the South African Communist Party (SACP) on holding a very successful congress which ended over the weekend. The NUM is pleased by the mature and sober policy deliberations displayed by congress.
The NUM congratulates the leadership collective elected at KwaDlangezwa and its President Senzeni Zokwana who emerged as chairperson of the SACP.
The union prides itself on the contribution it continues to make to the South African society in general in producing sober leaders of Zokwana's calibre who are capable of working as a collective in taking the National Democratic Revolution forward rather than dancing on one spot.
"We wish our President well in discharging his responsibilities as chairperson of the SACP and we are confident that working with the collective elected, they are more than capable to take the SACP forward" says Frans Baleni, the NUM General Secretary.
The National Union of Mineworkers further congratulates the SACP for its commitment to the NDR and for vociferously championing the rights of the marginalised majority.
"We remain convinced that the SACP as the vanguard of the working class and the poor will continue to play its role and will lead us to new unchartered waters in the struggle for the emancipation of the black majority" says Baleni.
The NUM is confident that the President and the leadership collective elected will work harder in improving alliance relations.
