NELSON MANDELA BAY NAFCOC YOUTH WISHES TATA MANDELA A HAPPY BIRTHDAY

18 July 2012

Today marks a significant and highly important day in the calendar of the
country, continent and global village at large. On this day a hero, a
revolutionary and an international icon was born. On this day 18 July, the
world celebrates the birth of Nelson 'Rolihlahla' Mandela.
As this region, we are particularly humbled and honored to be named after such
a man.
Throughout his life, tata Nelson has dedicated his life to the just cause of
liberating his people (black majority) from the shackles and bondage of the
evil and unjust apartheid system. He sacrificed close to three decades of his
life imprisoned for fighting for a better South Africa.
Today as this generation we are able to freely participate in activities that
never existed before for a black man. Today we can express ourselves in
education, policy formulation, entrepreneurship and economic participation
without fear of intimidation of incarceration.
Tata Mandela and his generation sacrificed their private lives, families and
professions and joined the just cause of national liberation.

Though we eventually achieved the freedom that Mandela fought for, legacies of
the apartheid regime still confront us even today. The structure of the economy
is still unbalanced and youth is faced with poverty, unemployment and the
pandemic HIV\AIDS.

As the chamber which is the recognized voice of black business, we pledge to
stand on the shoulders of these giants and will continue fighting for the
integration of blacks into the mainstream economy. We will curb the high levels
of unemployment by assisting emerging entrepreneurs in breaking the shackles
that hold them back and assist in creating a conducive environment that will
allow them to unleash their full potential.

We would like to stand on salute and answer in the affirmative to a challenge
posed by Mandela himself when he said:

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is
an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid,
poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can
be overcome and eradicated by the actions of
human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation
to be great. YOU can be that great generation.
Let your greatness blossom.”

Yes we will fight poverty and under- development wherever they rear their ugly
hear. With bravery, fearlessness and directed militancy, we pledge to be that
generation. The generation that will shake the foundations of injustice. The
generation that will be different. That special generation that will fight
night and day in making sure that the voice of the youth is heard in all
circles and not just heard but actually heeded.

Just because we are young does not mean we are weak or fragile, just like tata
Mandela, we are willing to go to lengths in making sure that the progressive
ideals of NAFCOC of economic development among black business is a reality.

As the youth in business, we wish Nelson Mandela, and the Mandela family a great
day.

We still look forward to drawing from that intellectual well of wisdom from
tata Madiba and wish God can preserve him to see that they did not struggle for
granted.

Happy birthday tata

We will always love and cherish you!!!
