*SACP Gauteng Press Statement, 5 August 2012* *COSATU Gauteng 11th Provincial Congress*The South Africa Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng congratulates COSATU in Gauteng for its successful Congress. We also congratulate the new leadership elected unanimously following such elections displayed in the recent SACP Provincial Conference and the SACP National Congress. We believe that this practice should also be extended broadly in Alliance structures.
The Party noted with interest the debates on international relations matters and the need for South Africa to tilt the international balance of forces in favour of the working-class in the multilateral institutions and in the blocs that South Africa is member to.
We welcome the affirmation by COSATU that the SACP remains the only vanguard of the working-class.
We believe that it is critical for the Party continue to strengthen relations with COSATU as two class formations in the Alliance to advance the struggles of the workers and the working class in general.
The Party commits itself to respond positively to the call by workers to intensify ideological work amongst the workers particularly around the Marxist Leninist theory and practice. The SACP welcomes the proposal by COSATU to have a bilateral taking the form of a Lekgotla between this two class formations to discuss a political program and to strengthen relations between them.
We believe that this Congress has laid a solid foundation for consolidating the work of the class partners and their unity to deepen and advance the National Democratic Revolution towards Socialism!
