NgesiZulu kuthiwa: isitsha esihle asidleli...on that note mine is to say the
best that we can do is to celebrate the life of this Lioness through
materializing what she had hoped and believed in. Above all thank God for
lending you such a beautiful soul, for in the hearts of those who knew her she
shall be treasured forever!

_A TRIBUTE TO A FRIEND, SISTER, A FELLOW LIONESS_

 _SAMKE ZONDO _

 _LEADER OF THE BMF YP_

 _10 SEPTEMBER 2012 _

 _10H00 AM _

Samke I must have had to hear it five times in order to believe that you are
really gone. Am in pain, speechless and withering in my tears and grief as I
attempt to do justice in describing what you had become in my life. I had no
idea death could be this pitiless; its inability to prepare us leaves us be
dazed.

I logged on to my gmail chat, hoping I would get a message from you saying
friend did you hear that people said I died in a car accident. Then maybe we
would laugh about it, drive to Sandton and we catch up.

Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face; I remember when I first
met you; I was still the spokesperson of YCL.You had honoured an invitation
on behalf of BMF Young Professionals to hear our views and what should happen
to empower young people in the first Youth summit we held as YCL.

I specifically remember you had a pencil skirt on, an elegant polka dot
shirt and a cardigan. No one could have missed you that day, as you exhumed
confidence. Your hair tied back with an afro pony tail. You looked pure,
beautiful, and too young to have that much authority in your voice. I
introduced myself and like a fellow alpha woman, you gave me an assertive
look, with that innocent smile; from that moment on, it would be the
beginning of a rich friendship and sisterhood. Even after the summit, we sat
hours on end, I hope you have forgiven me for thinking that day you were
Shakas lady J.

From that day on, I knew I had met my equal, a friend who could challenge
me, have my back and understand my school of thought. I remember you teasing
me that I looked nothing like a communist; I think you still hold the same
views. Most people were fascinated by the similarities in physique and
approach. You accepted me the way I was and in no way judged me. You quickly
became a dear friend, a sister and an aunt to my son.In my battles as a
single parent you were willing to help without question, a woman I had hardly
known would be decent enough to ask if my son was okay and spoil
him.......That is the heart you had. Your nature was caring unequivocally for
a person you held dear to your heart. Driving me to Katlehong after your
meetings at BMF was nothing for you as you believed I could add value into
your life. We shared aspirations to change this country, shape ideas and
bring context into some of the political madness we would spend hours
debating about.

One thing that I will always admire about you fellow lioness, is that you
remained fearless in everything you did. Where men emaciated in fear to sound
politically correct, you dared those on the throne.BMF Young Professionals
became your baby, a baby you nurtured and could never accept infiltration by
mediocrity. You led when others chose to retreat.

Tactful or not Samke, you made a mark for yourself. I cant believe I have
lost you.Am grieving for the time we were still to spend, I grieve for the
man that would have had your heart, I grieve for the children who would have
been blessed to have you as a mother, I grieve for the intellect, knowledge
and commitment you were still going to deposit into the world. We had plans my
friend, we had plans. As you would always say when I become Minister, you would
be running a parastatal. Yes you had no borders in ambition and determination,
because you were no ordinary woman.

Your kind come few and far in between hence I cant accept your death. There
is so much that you still needed to do with me.I call you lioness because you
even committed to the ANCYL despite the stereotypes surrounding you. I
remember you saying, _Friend I will go to these meetings even if they
disapprove of my twang, where on earth do they think I will go? To the DA-
never, I am no Lindiwe Mazibuko and I will remain in the ANC and ANCYL._Big
up Samke Zondo!

As we promised each other, we will take this revolution forward in red
stilettos. I have my red stilettos on and its in your honour dear.Red
resembling passion, drive and consciousness, stilettos resembling women who
can take to the streets as well as the boardroom. As you always said, you
will leave me to the chanting and politics whilst you fight the battles in
white dominated corporate boardrooms. Wow what a team we could have been
Samke. Am shattered!

You lived your life in a way many envy and will never live. You have
inspired me in my endeavours to conquer mountains and become the greatest I
can be.You passed on in a month of purity, renewal, new beginnings and
hope-September. This can only mean that you are Gods chosen. Sadly another
person I loved dearly passed on in September, my true King- my father- eleven
years ago.

Legends my friend die young. Che Guevara, Solomon Mahlangu,Bantu Steve
Biko.....You join legends that lived their lives to the fullest in a very
short space of time and dared to lead where others couldnt.

_Abokhokho bakho baka Zondo, bazokumukela ngezinhliziyo ezimphlophe. _

_Indlela oziphathe ngayo, indlela odlale indima yakho la emhlabeni
,iyathokozisa kakhulu. _

_Ulale ngoxolo sisi wami, mlingani wami_

_Engikwaziyo ukuthi izindlela zethu ziyophinde zixhumane ngelinye ilanga,
masekuvuma Ingonyama yeZulu_

 LOVE YOU ALWAYS, HEART BROKEN
