YCLSA NORTHERN CAPE PRESS STATEMENT
STATEMENT ON THE MEETING OF THE PWC YCLSA NORTHERN CAPE HELD ON SUNDAY THE 07th OF OCTOBER 2012 The Provincial Working Committee of the Young Communist League of South Africa met on Sunday to discharge the work of the PEC. The PWC discussed at length the capitalist crisis, national and provincial political developments, the state of our organisation and the implementation of our 3rd Congress Resolution and PEC resolutions moving forward. On the Instability in the Mining Sector The Provincial Working Committee discussed at length the recent developments in the South African mining complex. The PWC focused on the organizational and political destabilization that has been created in the mining sector, particularly as it relates to collective bargaining. We will continue to support the efforts of the National Union of Mine Workers in ensuring that the victories of the 30 year old union in South Africa do not loose substance. We cannot allow renegades to continuously mislead workers and young workers with sensationalist and demagogic sentiments. These forces continue to strengthen capital and weaken the working class gains in the country. We will continue to prioritize our political and ideological work with all COSATU affiliates and particularly the young workers in the province, to ensure that we entrench and imbue working class principles amongst them. We calling for the ANC led alliance in the Province to sanction a comprehensive study into the mineral wealth and deposits laying all over the Province for the benefit of the majority of our people. On the Lack of Schooling in the John Taole Gaetsewe District The Provincial Working Committee made an in-depth analysis on the state of education in general. The textbook crisis across the country remains a concern of the YCLSA, not only in Limpopo and we support the President`s approach in this regard to deal with it. We are also deeply concerned with the schooling crises in the John Taole Gaetsewe District Municipality. The education of our young people is very important and as the YCLSA we maintain our view that “EDUCATION MUST BE MADE FASHIONABLE”. We call on the provincial leadership to continue engaging with the community to find a workable solution. All YCL’ers are called to provide assistance in their communities together with the PYA structures in ensuring that learners are assisted to catch up on lost time. Progressive Youth Alliance Structures The PWC assessed the state of the PYA at a National Level and applauds the efforts of our national leadership in calling for unity within the PYA. We also note the huge progress that has been made in the province by the YCLSA in ensuring that the PYA structures are able to meet and hold bi-laterals. The constant meetings between COSAS, SASCO and the YCLSA have yielded great results and we need to ensure that the ANCYL is continuously engaged as part of the PYA`s functionality. These discussions have led to clear resolutions on the following matters: · Call for a joint Political School in the province; · Play a key role on the ANC PEC Education sub-committee; · To seek platform in the Skills Development Forum; · Call a PYA Summit, · Work towards joint programmes and campaigns These remain relevant and achievable based on the unison shown by the PYA in rejecting the Youth Wage Subsidy. On the SACP Red October Month The YCLSA welcomes the launch of the Red October campaign and the call for “BASIC SERVICES FOR ALL”- Fighting Crime and Corruption- Prioritizing Political Education- Cleaning of Public Institutions and Planting of trees. We will continue to pursue these demands and ensure that communist values and ideals are entrenched in our communities to further consolidate our building blocks for Socialism in our Lifetime. The YCLSA together with the SACP will also use this month to recruit and renew membership through our Operation Khula Campaign. This will strengthen the resolution of the 13th National Congress to have all members of the YCLSA who are not members of the SACP to join the party and vis-vis. Conclusion The PWC finalized and processed the following documents; · YCLSA Perspective on the Provincial Skills Requirements/Demands · YCLSA `s approach in fighting the challenge of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome in the Province · The YCLSA Provincial News letter Issued by the YCLSA Northern Cape For more information contact: OJ Fourie Acting Provincial Spokesperson 079 507 0127 (Cell) 086 275 1296 (Fax2Email) [email protected] Sent from my iPad -- You are subscribed.
