*Councillor's double paydays to end*** *Prudence Mini, The Herald, Port Elizabeth, 25 October 2012*A FULL-time Makana councillor is in hot water after he was bust for double-parking with two jobs and he has now been given 30 days to choose between the two.
ANC councillor Paul Notyhawa, who serves as a mayoral committee member -- which is a full-time position -- is also an advocate for two trade unions, Cosatu and Sadtu.
Notyhawa chairs the local economic development portfolio committee. Makana councillors had a secret meeting earlier this week to discuss how they would deal with his moonlighting.
An investigation into his alleged breach of conduct was prompted by questions raised by the DA about his absence from his municipal office and council meetings due to his other job.
A task team of five councillors, led by ANC councillor Julie Wells, was set up by the council to investigate the matter.
The committee presented a report to the council on Monday, wherein they said that in a meeting with Notyhawa in April he had refused to speak to them on the grounds that he had submitted a letter to the municipal manager explaining his double-parking.
Notyhawa rejected the committee's request to talk about the contents of the letter.
