It is my considered view that the DA has every right to go to Nkandla.
As I say this I am not naïve to their mischievous aims. Like every South
Africa, we all enjoy the right to use the public road the even leads UP TO THE
GATE of the President's Private residence.
However, nobody has the right to enter another persons property without their
permission. Equally, no citizen should be arrested or denied access to any
meeting or area prematurely.
I don't understand why Zille and co were not left to their vices and only
arrested, for trespassing, IF they gained access to the compound with out
permission.
Today's events are akin to the events which lead to Julius Malema being denied
access to a hall to address workers, the sanctioned violence which accompanied
the DA march to COSATU House.
I again condemn the erection of a blockage in Nkandla to prevent the DA from
entering the village.
As revolutionaries, especially communists, we must be concerned with curtailing
of these civil and political freedoms.
These freedoms which are now being contested, are the ones we fought for. These
are the freedoms which we must protect and cherish if we are to build capacity
for socialism, from and within a capitalist state. The ANC and by extension
state are contested terrains, a tilt in the balance of forces can easily result
in a situation where "no go areas" are created for communists.
We should not celebrate!!!
Today its the DA or Julius Malema, tomorrow it might be us!!!

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] Zille and her entourage is stopped from
 approaching Jacob Zuma's Nkandla home

*Sapa, The Times, 4 November, 2012*

Police were preventing DA leader Helen Zille and her entourage from
approaching President Jacob Zuma's homestead in Nkandla on Sunday morning.

About 700 metres from where the Democratic Alliance was stopped, police
in riot gear were trying to prevent a group of ANC supporters from
advancing. Officers formed a human chain across the road, outside Zuma's
residence, in the village of KwaNxamalala.

Two water canons and several armoured Nyala vehicles were parked nearby.

The song Awulethu Mshini Wami (Bring me my machine gun) was blaring from
a sound system. Some people carried placards reading: "Stop attacking Zuma".

Eight people lay down in the road and refused to move when police asked
them to. ANC supporters spilled out of several buses that arrived
earlier in the morning.

A police helicopter was in the air and officers were stopping vehicles
heading in the direction of Zuma's compound, checking licences and
identities.

The Democratic Alliance intended visiting Zuma's private residence,
where an upgrade, reportedly costing R200 million, was in progress.
Zille and DA officials intended inspecting roads around the property and
would try to enter the compound.

The African National Congress and its allies have criticised the move.

On Saturday the South African Communist Party said the planned
"inspection" was part of a racist right-wing agenda.

On Friday the African National Congress warned the DA could receive a
welcoming similar to the stone-throwing that erupted in May when the
opposition party tried to march to the Congress of SA Trade Unions'
headquarters in Johannesburg.
