*SACP Moses Mabhida Province (KZN), 15 November 2012*** *It’s All Systems Go for the SACP’s March to Inkandla On Saturday*The sleepy town of Inkandla on the north of KwaZulu-Natal will come alive this Saturday as thousands of SACP supporters march to show support for rural development programs pursued by President Jacob Zuma’s government.
The march, which will counter claims that Zuma is prioritizing his village and his own residence, is expected to be attended by high ranking SACP/ANC and COSATU leaders including top government officials.
SACP Provincial secretary Themba Mthembu said the march will highlight the much needed rural development which has been reduced into party political football by opposition parties.
“Rural Development is one of the five priorities that were identified in Polokwane as needing an urgent attention to transform the lives of our people. In this province, Inkandla and Umsinga were identified as needing an urgent attention long before Zuma became the president,” said Mthembu.
He said there were successful rural development programs in many parts of the country including Limpopo, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
The march is expected to be joined by thousands of people from all over KwaZulu-Natal especially in rural areas. Taxi drivers and traditional leaders are also said to have pledged to support the march.
“We as the taxi industry will fully support the march because operating in rural areas brings us a lot of problems in terms of vehicle maintenance because of terrible road infrastructure,” said Mpiyonke Ngubane a taxi driver from Inkandla.
