all of it does not point to anyone forcing this region to vote Zuma -- just
some sensational nonsense from faceless members.

ANC ECAPE BEING FORCED TO BACK ZUMA: DELEGATES

The nomination of ANC leaders by the party's Eastern Cape members is being
"forced" in favour of party president Jacob Zuma, two of them said on Friday.

One delegate from the Eastern Cape's OR Tambo region, which this week voted
unanimously for deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe to take control of the
party, said "those" who supported Zuma knew which branches had not backed the
ANC president.

Speaking on the sidelines of the party's nomination conference at the
University of Fort Hare in Alice on Friday night, he said life was made
"extremely difficult" for the region's delegates at the conference.

"We had all our credentials in order, but when we arrived those in power said
no we were not properly verified," said the delegate, who spoke on condition of
anonymity.

The province was selecting its candidates to stand for leadership positions at
the ANC's national conference in Mangaung next month.

"They are manipulating this. They are forcing it in favour of Zuma. That is
obvious," he continued.

"They have been making our lives difficult in a number of ways. For example,
they did not allow us parking at the university and they kept us waiting most
of the day while they verified us.

"It wasn't like this for the branches that supported Zuma."

The delegate said a culture of fear had gripped the party in recent years.

"If you don't support the person in power, you'll find yourself on the wrong
side."

The ANC was no longer the party of old, he said, and was "no longer democratic".

"People are [living] in fear. If they don't support Zuma things will go wrong
for them."

The OR Tambo region in Mthatha, the ANC's second-biggest region in the country,
voted unanimously on Wednesday for Motlanthe to lead the party. The party's
provincial leaders however rejected the decision.

Provincial secretary Oscar Mabuyane said the meeting was "irregular" and "not
properly convened".

"So many branches in that region were stuck with disputes," he said.

"For the purposes of this conference, that meeting was out of equation in terms
of guidelines."

All 107 delegates at the regional meeting had supported Motlanthe to take over
as ANC president, with Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale as his deputy,
and Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula as secretary-general.

Another delegate, from Buffalo City, said his branch, which had supported
Motlanthe, had not been allowed to vote.

"I suppose our candidate is not in power, so what can we do?" the man said,
also wanting to stay anonymous.

Earlier on Friday two delegates motivated a nomination for Zuma to continue his
leadership of the party. Another two motivated Motlanthe to take the helm.

Many of the delegates in the auditorium in which the voting was taking place
wore yellow shirts bearing Zuma's image and sang songs praising him.

Security guards, dressed in military fatigues, were controlling who was allowed
into the meeting.

Voting for the province's candidates was still underway late on Friday night.

I'm afraid that your obvious tendencies are anti-ANC or perharps you are part
of the unlawful DA tresspassers on our forum.

Khutjo, how does membership of the ANC articulate upon its leadership
preference? Through nominations done at the PGC's (Provincial General
Council's) that are held soon towards the National Conference. The Leagues of
the ANC articulate through their respective NEC structures, which gather in a
quorum concious meeting to discuss leadership and consolidate a single list of
nomination preference.

At present, KZN, Mpumalanga, the Free State, the Veterans League and the
Women's League have all articulated their preference and mind you it is in
seconding motion of a second term for Cde Jacob Zuma as President. However the
Youth League has also articulated contra to the aforementioned and are by far
the only backers of Cde Kgalema Motlanthe for President. Bare in mind that at
the National Conference of the ANC, the entire Youth League is regarded as a
single province.

Post the process of nominations, we await the process to unfold whereby
National Conference votes for its preffered leadership. Hence in the ANC,
membership speaks for itself in matters of leadership through Conference.

So Khutjo, which people were you with reference to? Which people do not want
President Jacob Zuma as their President? Which formation do you speak on behalf
of when you refer to the people and what powers do you possess that warrant you
the right to uninformed articulations on our discussion forum?

Khutjo, the purpose of this forum is to update each other on the latest
political events, furthermore shape Cadre conception of theoretical framework
of the Tripartite Alliance and the PYA as a whole however focusing mammothly
upon the YCLSA, it is no playground whereby we fool each other. We will not
accomodate perpetrators that advocate factionalism within this terrain.

Khutjo there are other avenues by which one can be influential upon this forum.
And the main route that I would suggest you explore, is that of initially being
unvocal, up until you grasp the actual intent of the forum, then in due process
enroll for an emotion manegement course as the only way to be instrumental in a
constructive manner upon this forum is through being unemotional in one's
articulations.

You possess the love to contribute towards the political stability of the
country, however respect the chronology of growth stages towards the
realisation of that dream. Listen, Learn, properly conceive then partake.

Amandla!

Comradely regards
