YCLSA Press Statement December 20, 2012
YCLSA Congratulates the ANC for a successful conference The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] congratulates the African National Congress on a successful 53rd National Conference held on its centenary year, in Mangaung from 16-20 December 2012. We congratulate the ANC for progressive resolutions and the leadership elected. We wish all of them well. The watershed conference ended this evening. For the media and 'independent analysts' Mangaung was supposed to make 'Polokwane look like a picnic'. A concerted campaign was waged not only on the President of the ANC Comrade Jacob Zuma, but on the Organisation at large. The misleading press reports such as those that have consistently been covered by The Star were intended to derail the Conference. We applaud delegates who behaved well and proved wrong those who predicted doom for this conference. Delegates to the conference carried out their branch mandates and persuaded each other with distinction. Through this conference we have seen democracy in action. As the YCL we have faith in the elected leadership. We believe that they will unite the ANC and elevate it to greater heights. The real work has started in the conference, continuing for the best traditions of Polokwane. We will work together with the ANC to implement the progressive resolutions of the conference for the betterment of the lives of our people. As comrades drive home we appeal them to be cautious on the road, drive safely and arrive home alive.
