AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS YOUTH LEAGUE
LIMPOPO PROVINCE
07 January 2013
Press statement for immediate release
Academic Excellence in honour of President Peter Mokaba.
On the 07 January 1959, a revolutionary with fearless instincts was born, he
was unfortunately brought to this world to be met with the brutal human
segregative attitudes, which subjected every conscious being to confront the
system with the intolerance it deserved, thus ascertaining the active
involvement against any undue acts.
Politically conscious and enthusiast people who knew the importance of living
in harmony without any kind of prejudice, had to revolt against this but knew
the importance of learning in order to advance informed mobilization against
the system, though education was restrictive due to colour biological origin,
regardless of such an effort the generation of the time persevered, and
President Peter Mokaba was amongst those that married education with political
involvement.
As in when we celebrate life and times of this gallant fighter, President
Mokaba 's birthday, we need to couple the celebration with prioritizing
education of both ourselves as leaders, our members, those we seek to recruit
and the civilized members of the society to delve in being academics, as our
country only demands education in order to reform systems and chant a way
towards a complete attainment of Millenium Development Goals, as the incessant
chanting of Apartheid and its injustices is immaterial and delaying, all we
should start doing in order to accommodate all generations including the Born
Frees, is to preempt the future and prepare ourselves thereto.
President Mokaba has inspired us in many ways than one to become politicians,
intention being to contribute towards the well-being of our communities, hence
we need to learn deeper the foundations of learning and advise the state to
introduce a caring curriculum in line with our visions as the country, not a
permanently changing curricular.
The ANCYL Limpopo is humbly making a call to Law Enforcement Agencies including
the Hawks, South African Police Service, and the Department of Higher Education
to embark on a outreach to search for Fly-by-night Colleges and further make
campaigns to notify learners and parents about these time consuming day light
robbery.
It is the responsibility of all us to guard against such syndicates as they rob
our parents of their hard earned money and as well waste a lot of time for
young people only to be awarded a bogus certificate. Every learner is therefore
advised to make use of the Offices of the Department of Higher Education and
Training and SASCO Branches to confirm the validity of the college before
paying any registration fee or admission.
The ANCYL Limpopo along with the PYA will embark on Back to School campaign
from the school reopening and has adopted it as an unremitting program
throughout the year. We urge parents both through the SGB and individually to
participate fully in the Education of their children, in order for the children
to be educated not certificated, as it will bear fruits for our communities and
the country at its entirety.
We reiterate our call to the private sector to practice patriotism, by donating
and adopting needy schools and learners.
