Press statement for immediate release

            Natural Disasters in Limpopo

Rain as it brings water through filling rivers and dams, is equals to being the
source of life and its sustainability, as non can go without water for multi
reasons including food production, bathing for health reasons, which to a
serious extend plants our worthiness as living beings inclusive of plants and
animals.

The heavy rains in the past two weeks in the Limpopo Province poured even at
points of the borders of Zimbabwe and Mozambique filling the Limpopo river,
have brought much death than the life they brought which can ever be remembered
as it carried rigorousness. We regret the disasters it ushered as it collapsed
buildings, flooded streets, opened potholes, drowned animals, people and
plantations, which will impact in food shortages and vulnerability to diseases.

The disasters came as a shock to the African National Congress Youth League in
Limpopo, as they brought pain and financial implication to the society in
general, and therefore we are making a call to neighbours, political leadership
and all emergency personnel to remain on guard to aid one another in this
ruinous situation in our province and the country at its whole.

The Limpopo Provincial Government have a capacity to rescue every member of our
society affected by this rainy conditions, thus they should immediately
vaccinate for malaria and any other disease water can convey, make provisions
for prevention of cholera, and provide quality temporary shelter both for
residential and schooling. We further make a clarion call to the Business
sector and churches to assist in every possible means.

The ANCYL Limpopo likewise forwards our most sincerest and heartfelt
condolences to the families which have lost their loved ones, and also call
upon municipalities to collapse all illegal water blocking or conservation
plunks to avoid drowning of children whilst playing and also being hubs that
breeds mosquitoes.
