YCLSA congratulates Yershen Pillay on his appointment as chairperson of the NYDA The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] congratulates comrade Yershen Pillay on his appointment, as chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). Cde Yershen has shown extraordinary leadership skills as national chairperson of the YCL and as deputy chairperson of the NYDA. The NYDA’s primary target group is young people aged between 14 and 35 years with the majority of beneficiaries coming from low income households. Cde Yershen’s experience as a leader and youth representative in the socialist vanguard party in South Africa will provide him with the necessary outlook and capacity to fulfil this enormous task. By appointing cde Yershen to this position, the president has shown faith in cde Yershen’s skills to fulfil the mandate of the NYDA. Investment programmes for the youth is a priority for this government and we are certain that with cde Yershen’s dynamism and experience, the NYDA will reflect a development agency that the youth of South Africa. The appointment of Yershen marks an effort to redirect the efforts, organisation and finances to the genuine needs of young people.
