PRESS ALERT: Buti Manamela to handover memorandum at opening of 5th BRICS Summit in Durban Buti Manamela, South African Member of Parliament and National Secretary of the Young Communist League of South Africa, will today officially handover a Memorandum on behalf of several South African organizations appealing to the 5th BRICS Summit (opening today in Durban) for "decisive action" on Palestine, in the form of an immediate Israeli arms embargo and ban of trade with Israel's illegal settlements. A representative from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) will receive the memorandum at 11h00, from Manamela, who will be present at the Palestine solidarity protest at "Speakers Corner" (Durban International Convention Centre, corner Walnut Road and Braam Fisher Road, Durban). The Memorandum will also be relseased via email thereafter. The Young Communist League of South Africa together with BDS South Africa, supported by the SACP and COSATU, are holding a Palestine protest outside the 5th BRICS Summit today (Tuesday, 26 March)between 08h00 and 12h00 calling for BRICS countries to sever trade with Israel's "illegal" settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as well as impose an immediate arms embargo on Israel.
