4 May 2013 SACP Brian Bunting District Dismisses Patricia De Lille "Mayor of the Month" Gimmick
The SACP in the Brian Bunting District has noted the flawed selection of Patricia de Lille as "Mayor of the Month" by a UK based City Mayors Foundation which was published by the Cape Times yesterday. This selection is devoid of any meaning to thousands of poor households in the Cape Metro as Patricia De Lille has done nothing to improve the lives and dignity of the working class communities. This UK based foundation is dishonest and has a clear neo- liberal agenda as they also awarded the World Mayor Prize to Helen Zille in 2008. This is nothing but a failed attempt at legitimizing and elevating the anti-poor agenda of foreign capital which the DA advances and protects. Selecting Patricia de Lille is simply a gimmick to spread propaganda falsely claiming that the DA delivers to the residents of the Cape. But this is contradicted resoundingly by the clear evidence of poor service delivery. This is an insult to the conditions of the poor as the City of Cape Town continues to record the highest number of protests against poor service delivery in the entire country.
