YCLSA Lekoa District Statement On the launch of the Moses Kotane Brigade and the DA’s racism of contempt
29 May 2013 It is with great joy to us the Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] in the District of Lekoa, Vaal, to join our Provincial Executive Committee in congratulating the ANC on the successful event of its launch of Moses Kotane Volunteer Brigade that has started doing outstanding work Midvaal. The aim of the event is to liberate the people of Midvaal. This event follows successful march which was staged by the SACP in November 2012. It is therefore really pleasing to see the people of Midvaal speaking for themselves, that they are sick and tired of the DA administration. We have noted that the DA in Midvaal is hiding behind the majority vote principle. The surprisingly anti-majoritarian DA is ironically using the principle of majority vote to shut down any suggestion or dissatisfaction expressed by the communities of Midvaal and to a blind eye on the racial voting pattern in the area. While DA keeps on doing so, the working class is not satisfied. DA has tried every trick in the book to rubbish the ANC’s event and failed to address the service delivery concerns as they are raised by communities. As the YCLSA we take serious exception to this essentially apartheid style attitude. DA must therefore address the following first: As YCL we have noted that it is only a certain sections or groups of communities that are happy while the majority is not happy at all. This is characterized by the apartheid legacy of racial divide. It is indeed true that the people from Henley-on Klip are happy with the DA while the people of Piels Farm, Ward 08 in Sicelo, Mamello, Bantubonke, etc. are not happy at all. It is an insult to suggest to such people to say they are happy to be subjected to a long queue for one communal tap as the only source of water. The DA further insults the people of Midvaal in particular those in the informal settlements, to suggest that 10 households are happy to share one small piece of land as the space that they must use to shelter themselves. The DA is insulting the people of Midvaal to suggest that they are happy as 10 households of two or more people per house should be congested in one yard and also share a bucket system type of an ablution, which is also collected once or after two weeks. DA is insulting the people of Midvaal to suggest that they are having an indigent policy while in November 2012 a three year old child in Ward 08 had to spend three months in the custody of a funeral undertaker due to the fact that the service provider could proceed with the funeral while the Municipality was delaying in finalizing its paperwork. Further to this the Social development offices of the Municipality are not accessible to the communities of Piels Farm, Mamello, Bantubonke etc., as they are located in the middle of De Duer far away from them. As YCLSA in the District we are disgusted by the refusal of the DA led Council in Gauteng and in the District to provide land to the ANC led Provincial Government to build Houses for the people. The sin that our people have committed to the DA s to be black. Therefore IF YOU MAKE LAND AVAILABLE FOR HOUSING THEY WILL POTENTIALLY VOTE FOR THE ANC, that how that racist DA sees things. The DA must never turn a blind eye on racial voting while it fears a democratic vote that is all inclusive. One of the DA leaders in the district by the name of Moodley was quoted by the times newspaper boldly claiming that under the DA the number of informal settlements has decreased. We call on him to prove to the public that except for Sicelo and Lakeside Estate which were developed not through the will of the DA anyway, there are other housing projects that were approved by DA led Council in Gauteng. The DA must stop telling lies and claiming easy victory. Its small lies are not being believed. As a result, the DA has resorted to manufacturing big lies, believing that the bigger the lies it manufactures and spread the better it stands a chance to be believed. What is more amazing about the DA is the fact that they have electrified a particular informal settlement in Cape Town, according to them through the magic. Then why is the DA unable to bring the very same magic to electrify the informal settlements of Midvaal. In Henly-on Klip most things are smooth while in the township nothing is pleasing. DA fails to protect the farm workers from being abused by the farmers in Midvaa. Instead it has called for the protection of the Farmers while they are victimizing the black poor farm workers Due to a failure of DA government to provide land for Human development, Midvaal has got only one secondary school which is Meyerton High which is overcrowded and one primary school which is in a form of mobile classes. While white people can afford to take their children to schools in Alberton and elsewhere in Ekurhuleni, lack of schools in Midvaal has led to a situation where parents and learners have to use Isizwe-Setjhaba as the alternative. The reason why parents identified Isizwe-Setjhaba is because train is the only cheapest mode of public transport in the area and it is affordable. The DA claims that Midvaal is the best administered in Gauteng. On the contrary, in other Municipality there is no deliberate systematic maladministration like it happens in Midvaal. They DA has outsourced the legal services and debt collection only for the sole purpose of victimizing those who do not agree with them. The DA failed to support the programme of Black emerging farmers by evicting them from their properties in particular from De Duer and auctioned them through Odendaal for his benefit and other few members of the DA. DA further victimized those white people in Midvaal who do not agree with them and their practices. The example is the stand 1491 in Henly on Klip. They claim that in August 2012 they came up with some remedy measures to address issues raised by the Public Protector on her findings just to manipulate the public opinion. How do you remedy the situation while the culprit is still part of the system? It will always be difficult for Timoty Nast of the DA to act against Odendaal as he is the one who is the real Mayor of Midvaal. He is the one who is running the Municipality while Nast is just a shadow of Odendaal in the Office. The DA has never responded or acted against Odendaal and Nast as well as Wenger who is the Member of National Parliament today. She was rewarded for ensuring that her and Odendaal( DA Chairperson) created a mess deliberately in Midvaal. In conclusion it is high time that the ANC as the leader of our strategic alliance should take over Midvaal and continuously engage the people of Midvaal. As the YCLSA we are part of the Moses Kotane brigade in our green, gold and black colours that are tempered in red. We shall work hard to liberate our people of DA and the apartheid legacy that it seeks to perpetuate both covertly and overtly.
