*South African Jewish Board of Deputies must apologise for lying to the public* The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] notes with concern the vicious lies the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) is spreading about deputy minister of the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO) and ANC chair in the Western Cape, Cde Marius Fransman. The SAJBD is claiming, with no evidence, that Cde Marius snubbed a South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) meeting this week. The SAHRC has refuted this lie, saying that they have been in communication with the deputy minister who had excused himself from the arranged meeting. The SAJBD is clearly desperate to tarnish and attack members of the ANC who are taking a progressive and human rights stance on Israeli apartheid and occupation. They have now resorted to lying and misleading the public with false information. This latest stunt by the SAJBD is not surprising. The SAJBD has a long history of supporting and actively campaigning for apartheid in South Africa. Their continued support for the illegal occupation of Palestine and human rights atrocities committed by the Israeli government reveal their racist, fascist nature. In the period of the last couple of months, the SAJBD president, Zev Krengel supervised the brutal beating of protestors. Furthermore, black people entering a SAJBD event in Cape Town were warned that they would not be allowed to speak or ask questions at the event. There is no place for a racist, violent organisation like the SAJBD in democratic South Africa. They should apologise immediately for their lies about Cde Marius Fransman and commit to transforming our country away from its past of white minority rule.
