SACP Mpumalanga, 19 August 2013

Provincial Executive Committee Statement

The SACP Mpumalanga 4th plenary session of the 08th Congress sat on the 18
August 2013 at Emalahleni Municipal Offices to assess its progress on
implementing the program of action and analyse the current political
developments nationally and globally. The meeting received all 3 reports,
and engaged upon them, amongst other issues the following were issues to
highlight on.

Gender struggle

The PEC acknowledges the challenges that are still affecting the movement
and society at large in regard to gender struggle. Power relations continue
to entrench gender inequality in the society and other means which
capitalism will use to advance its cause. The victory by the 1956 generation
should encourage the current to advance the struggle and emulate the latter.

The PEC affirmed the PWC analysis on the disbandment of ANC Nkangala REC,
further concerned about such decisions taken in the midst of election
campaign. We note that there are those who may not care about the victory of
the ANC in the election, only about themselves securing strategic positions.

The PEC forward its message of bereavement to the family, friends and
movement as a whole on the death of late RTT Scriber, Cde August Masango
after hearing of his death thus we call on comrades in Nkangala to unite and
deliver a decisive victory for the ANC in his honour.

COSATU unity

The PEC is highly concerned on what is transpiring within COSATU nationally
as it has impact either directly or indirectly to affect our election
campaign, unity and cohesion of the federation itself. We call upon our
members in their rights as members of respective affiliates to fight for
unity of the federation.

We note that there are attempts by forces of reaction to destabilize the
liberation movement and its alliance structures through its agents in order
to affect the ANC's performance in next year election. We plead with
revolutionary unions and members not to fall to the trap of the imperial
masters to subvert this revolutionary federation and undermine it working
class struggle.

The PEC welcomes the elections in Mali and Zimbabwe and congratulating
masses to take responsibility in voting. We note the attitude and character
of ZANU-PF towards South African government led by the ANC, whilst noting
the character of MDC being used by imperial forces to advance their agenda
in Zimbabwe. Both this structures in Zimbabwe are acting in the manner which
won't assist the poor masses of our people.

Swaziland

The SACP in Mpumalanga will work with progressive forces in Swaziland and
within the country to fight against oppressive regime of the monarchy. We
view the planned elections as a way of legitimising the monarchy and
continue to destabilise the progressive forces in Swaziland.

The SACP welcome the establishment of the University of Mpumalanga and its
interim Council, to further congratulate Cde Fidel Mlombo - SACP PEC and PWC
Member, COSATU Provincial Secretary on being part of the council. We hope
his inclusion will vanguard the interest of the working class and give some
ideological clarity to the council.

Victory

The SACP Mpumalanga will be on the ground making sure that a 90% victory in
the province is achieved and deliver a 2/3 majority nationally while
admitting the toughness of the upcoming elections. We call upon the masses
to register to vote and defend the legacy of our Icon, Cde Nelson Mandela by
voting correctly. The ANC remains the only beacon of hope to address the
triple crisis we facing.
