Vavi in trouble over NUMSA address SABC, Johannesburg, 10 September 2013 Suspended Congress of the South African Trade Unions (COSATU) General-Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi may have added to his current woes by addressing striking workers in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Monday. Although Vavi said he had attended the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) march in his personal capacity, the action is being seen as a violation of the conditions of his suspension. COSATU president S'dumo Dlamini spoke to journalists outside the South Gauteng High Court where COSATU was defending a bid by NUMSA to have Vavi reinstated. "There are conditions of the suspension of the leave if we use the language that we have preferred to use he can't address workers during this period. It is definitely going to be in breach of the conditions of his being placed on leave. It's getting into the package of matters that we should discuss internally," says Dlamini.
