ANC Media Advisory, 29 September 2013 S-G Leads Delegation to Russia The Secretary-General of the African National Congress, Comrade Gwede Mantashe, will lead an ANC delegation to Russia departing tomorrow, 30 September and returning 6 October 2013. The visit to Russia by the Secretary-General, accompanied by the Chairperson of the ANC NEC Sub-Committee on International Relations, Comrade Obed Bapela, is intended to strengthen the ANC's party-to-party relations with the ruling party of Russia, United Russia, and is expected to culminate in the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between our two parties. The Progressive Business Forum (PBF) will also be in Russia with a trade delegation for business promotion to deepen BRICS trade relations. Whilst in Russia, the Secretary-General, on behalf of the African National Congress, will lay wreaths at the Novodevichy Cemetery, Moscow in remembrance and in honour of our fallen heroes, Comrade [David Ivon] Jones, Comrade JB Marks and Comrade Moses Kotane.
