President Zuma Wishes Grandparents a Happy Grandparents Day

President Jacob Zuma today wishes all grandparents in South Africa a happy
and blessed Grandparents Day as the world celebrates this important day on
Sunday, 06 October 2013.

"On behalf of government and people of South Africa I wish all grandparents
a joyous and blessed Grandparents Day. We encourage all South Africans and
young people in particular, to respect and protect their grandparents and be
vanguards for the elders' rights and wellbeing," said President Zuma.

The President also encouraged families and households to ensure that due
attention is paid to grandparents during Grandparents Day, in the same
manner that mothers and fathers are feted on Mother's Day and Father's Day
in the country.

Grandparents Day is an important day in the calendar which is celebrated
across the world on the first Sunday of October.
