After a careful environmental scanning regarding the 2014 general elections, I see the ANC remaining the only reliable organisation leading to the liberation of our people across the country, and it remains resolute to changing the leaving conditions of our people to the better. It was the ANC in alliance with the South African Communist Party that drawn us out of the apartheid based on its humanitarian convictions and it continues to strive for bringing better life for all.
The ANC never outsourced its responsibilities to individuals considering them to be most appealing to the community than the organisation itself, by no chance the organisation shall be reduced to an individual show. The ANC Gauteng Provincial Secretary David Makhura has been quoted as saying “Mbeki would be deployed to speak with middle class audiences, while Zuma would be used for mass meetings where the audience would presumably be more accepting of his populist bent”. This is utterly disparaging to the credibility of our National Leadership of the ANC. To think that the organisation needs an external intervention is to outsource thinking capacity or to be co-opted by the entriest tendency classified as new tendency. It is and shall always remain that the lower structures become subordinate to the higher structure, the style of membership and leadership comparison analysis has never been the tradition of the ANC. All membership and leadership of the ANC shall be equal to the tasks entrusted to them by the constitution. It shall be mentioned significantly correct that at no point the ANC had approached the election on the basis of the populist bent since 1994 democratic breakthrough as allegedly proclaimed by Makhura to say President Zuma, a leader of the ANC and the Country, will be used for mass meetings where the audience would be presumably be more accepting of his populist bent. This statement by Makhura clearly undermines our organisational ethic of democratic centralism. President Zuma was never elected because he was popular, but he was elected precisely because he was tried and tested leader of the African National Congress.The African National Congress and the alliance continued to find expression to all key sides of our community across the quarters of our society. The middle class are always essential apparatus of the society the same way as the high class and working class community. It is worth mentioning that in whatsoever case the President of the ANC will remain a face of the organisation and the NEC of the ANC shall continue to provide leadership on the deployment of comrades leading electioneering work, door to door, election workshop, campaign in that regard. The tradition of speaking to the public about the internal organisation processes have nothing bring other than destroying the organisational principles and I hope is time now to all subject ourselves to the central command of our National Office under the control of our Secretary General Gwede Mantashe. The ANC is a voluntary organisation, its membership and leadership is guided by its constitution, therefore, there is no need for leadership in any lever of the organisation from the NEC, PECs, RECs and BECs to become restless about the national election programme of the ANC, this is a national competency and we shall all be guided by that. The time of paranoia has to come to pass. If there are some newly signalling constrains warranting immediate attention, then the leadership of the ANC Gauteng must bring the National Leadership to light about such, so that the leadership can without doubt propagate immediate intervention. This is not the first elections that the ANC is forming part of and this would not constitute the last elections. From now onwards full attention had to be put not only in one side of the society as purported by the Gauteng Provincial Secretary when he requires the former President Thabo Mbeki to speak to the middle class as if the former is the Pope of the middle class community. General community of South Africa is so much important to the ANC and there is no community that require special attention against another, our movement should foster for the equitable classless society wherein all citizens are equal to one another. Dating back from our history as the ANC, we have never confronted the enemy base on assumptions and unproven analysis for we had always been concrete on our approach reading the enemy, its strength and weaknesses. We cannot be threatened by illustrious venoms about losing strides of Gauteng unless this serve as a sign that the leadership in the province had seize to undertake their responsibilities regarding the election work. The spirit of individual worshiping has brought to us many regrets in the past, now still recurring. This will never serve the developmental agenda of our movement. I think this present to us a perfect time to make the correct reflection on how do we as the province project ourselves to the attainment of the overwhelming victory. Our preparation to the general election must be coupled with getting rid of the threats and insinuations that suggest the ANC must watch out for the DA opposition in the middle class community on these coming elections. Our election strategy has kept us till this far even if the DA can employ people who served in our election machinery to strengthen itself against us, the truth of the matter is that the ANC of 1994 has immensely grown in both strategy and tactics and this include growing in membership, the conditions to which the ANC has led in since the past years has drastically changed and new strategies are also required for us to reach out to society for our land slide victory. The ANC in 1994 had overcome challenges that faced it, similarly, that should be the case under the current material condition. We cannot fail to over emphasise further the gains that our movement have made so far, and this does not mean that we have done enough to cover all the needs of our people. We must be able to reverberate and broaden the understanding to our people about the nature and the character of the ANC, more so to the new voters of the 1994 generation who will be voting with us for the time. Not all of our communities have received all the services they sought to require since 1994, our government is continuing to make meaning to the lives of our people at least with only 19 years in democracy, a lot of work can be accounted for and more of this work can be demonstrated highly within the middle class community than we can observe them in the working class community. Our slogan “working together we can do more” continue to lead our unbroken commitments for the overwhelming victory of our glorious movement the African National Congress and we shall all marshal our force toward the attainment of this victory.
