FAWU Press Conference

 

 

The leadership - the President, the General Secretary and the Deputy General
Secretary - of the Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) will be addressing
the press conference convened as per the below arrangements: 

 

.        Date: 15 October 2013 (Today)

.        Time: 11h00-12h00 

.        Venue: Parktonian Hotel, De Korte Street, Braamfontein 

 

The purpose of the press conference will be for the FAWU leadership to share
its position and plans on the following:

 

.        The intensification of SAB workers strike following mandated
outcome of mass meeting in Gauteng 

.        The outcome of the Constitutional Court judgement on the lawsuit by
two members 

.        The plan by Pioneer Foods Ltd to retrench between 10% and 20% of
their 12 000 workforce (1 200 and 2 400 workers) 

.        FAWU submission to ITAC on effective tariff hike of imported sugar 

 

A detailed press statement will be presented and made available at the
actual press conference
