*Intended Provocative DA March to Luthuli House*

The South African Communist Party (SACP) has noted the intentions by the "Democratic Alliance (DA) to March to our allies the African National Congress' (ANC's) Headquarters, Chief Albert Luthuli House, in Johannesburg on 4 February 2014. The SACP agrees with the ANC, that the intended march is absolutely unnecessary, adventurist and represents a cheap popularity seeking stunt.

The DA is a political party which contests elections. Its policies are ultimately opposed to those of the ANC and our entire revolutionary alliance's shared perspective of a national democratic revolution. This is the reason why the DA constitutes an opposition to the ANC. The DA's intended provocative march to Luthuli House should be viewed as a desperate action by an opposition party that has realized it does not stand to win elections. As such the intended march reflects a ploy to determine or influence ANC's policy direction in the aftermath of most possibly conceding advanced defeat internally but being shameful of doing so publicly.

As a long standing and reliable ally the Communist Party stands on the side of the ANC. The SACP fully agrees with the ANC in cautioning the the DA against "taking the battle" to Luthuli House. As the SACP we view the intended march as an 'arrogant attack on our movement and a disrespect of the democratic order which seeks to establish and maintain political stability and tolerance in our country'. The SACP will not be a spectator when such disgusting attempts are directed at our movement.

The DA must not be in a hurry to manufacture confrontations it does not have capacity to sustain.
