to address YCLSA 10th Re-establishment Rally
Comrade Thulas Nxesi, SACP Deputy National Chairperson will address the 10th
Re-establishment Anniversary Rally of the Young Communist League of South
Africa (YCLSA). This follows the General Secretary Comrade Blade Nzimande,
who was originally scheduled to speak on behalf of the Central Committee at
the rally, being released from a Plenary Session of the Party's Politburo
yesterday because of a severe bout of influenza. The General Secretary was
since ordered by doctors to rest completely for the duration of the whole
weekend. The SACP wishes him a speedy recovery.
The Young Communist League
The YCLSA was banned as part of the Communist Party under the apartheid's
Suppression of Communism Act in 1950, and was not re-established after the
unbanning and reconstitution of the Party in February 1990. Founded in 1922,
the YCLSA was re-established in 2003 following a resolution by the SACP at
its 11th National Congress held in 2002.
Central Committee message at the rally
Comrade Thulas will among others reflect on the YCLSA, the advances achieved
by our revolution, the challenges, opportunities and tasks facing the
working class and the poor as well as our entire movement and society in the
struggle to achieve the vision of the Freedom Charter and socialism.
