DA's illusion of being "the champion of the poor"
Something is amiss in Zille's head Sonwabile Ngxiza, Cape Town, 10 March 2014 DA leader, Hellen Zille makes wild claims intended to buttress her pursuit of a fantasy seeking to rewrite history and deny the reality of the DA being a White minority party protecting privilege and being a Shopsteward of big business, domestic and foreign. Furthermore the DA desperation for votes that it claims to be the "champion of the poor" in a story carried by the Weekend Argus on Sunday 09 March 2014. Zille is so determined to gain popularity votes for the DA that she spreads falsehood claims "Everything we do focuses on the poorest people." Further, Zille reportedly insinuated that "more people in the province had access to running water, flush toilets and electricity." If Zille was honest and not obsessed with power and greed for votes then she would provide the nation with a comparative analysis indicating if her government exceeded the ANC's record of delivery in the province in housing and sanitation, eradication of informal settlements etc. It appears Zille has lost touch with reality chasing her own illusions and fantasies. Her claims are anything but fabrications! If these claims were true then the poor in the Western Cape would be content but the reality is that the anger and discontent of the poor is mounting daily rejecting Zille's vices. Zille was not acting on behalf of the poor farm workers in De Doorns by siding with the bosses when farm-workers (the super-exploited section of the working class) demanded only R105 a day. Residents of Hangberg know from personal experience that Zille was not acting in their best interest when she ordered the Metro police to wantonly shoot injuring many when their only crime was fighting against eviction and demand for land. She was not acting on the best interest of the poor when her government attempted to close schools in Valhalla Park, Mitchell's Plain. To tell the nation that the poor people of the Western Cape are living in comfort with flush toilets, running water, houses and electricity is shameful considering that the poor majority is subjected to using pota-pota, a dehumanizing portable toilet system. We challenge Zille to go to Barcelona or Nkanini or Sqalo informal settlements and face the anger and anguish of the communities whose lives she claims to have improved. The irony is that whilst her government wastes millions of rands on PR agencies aligned to the DA in order to channel funds towards DA's electioneering she claims "to focus on the poor." Take the R8 million spent on changing the logo in the City of Cape Town, how does that change the living conditions of the poor people in the informal settlements such as Marikana? Would that money not be better spent on providing houses? Zille priorities are White elite areas of Tableview, Milnerton & Tablebay hence constructing bicycle lanes and using massive infrastructure investment of public transport towards these areas instead of the townships where public transport is desperately needed. Zille's hypocritically claims are nothing but the gains made by previous ANC government in the Western Cape in providing decent houses and basic services as her own. She also claims that the Western Cape created 98000 jobs in the last quarter of 2013. This is true but the provincial government has no competency over the sectors where growth was recorded which is manufacturing and agriculture under the auspices, respectively of the Department of Trade and industry and Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries. Zille's vices have been increasing in rigour but have failed to fool the people. She firstly claimed that the DA fought against apartheid but when that failed she claimed the DA are the custodian of Mandela's legacy that too did not succeed. Claiming to be the champion of the poor and the same working class that has been impoverished, thus revolting against the DA. Clearly something is amiss in Zille's head. Zille pervasive inimical use of propaganda an archetype of Nazi Germany has caused indignation amongst the public as well as within her own ranks.
