SACP Mpumalanga Provincial Office Vandalised

The South African Communist Party in Mpumalanga Province is dismayed by the
burglary and vandalism in its Provincial Office located in the National
Union of Mineworkers Offices (25B Metis House), eMalahleni.

A case has already being opened with the SAPS and hopefully the police will
move swiftly and arrest the perpetrators of this senseless vandalism and
burglary. Amongst other things stolen by the perpetrators are laptop,
Membership file, Microwave oven and some equipment used by the building
cleaner.

We never thought that whilst celebrating 20 years of democratic breakthrough
we have to deal with issues of security of our staff, leaders and property
in a similar way we did during apartheid era. The SACP will take
extra-ordinary measures to make sure that our offices and personnel are
safe.

We hope the law enforcement agencies will not only act speedily in
apprehending the responsible culprits but will do so as part of renewing our
confidence in them that they can do their work without fear or favor
especially here in Mpumalanga Province.

We are suspicious that the burglary and vandalism are politically motivated
noting some of the items stolen and further we see it as intended to
intimidate and threaten the organization and its leadership. It is a
well-known matter that communists in Mpumalanga are a political target and a
night-mare to lumpen-tenderpreneurs. This will never prevent us in our fight
against lumpen-tenderpreneurs who are hell-bent on threatening communists
and politically persecuting them. We will continue to speak against
corruption and any foreign tendency within the movement.
