ANC Media Alert, 24 April 2014 Appeal on SMS ruling The Electoral Court will tomorrow, 25 April 2014, hear the appeal by the African National Congress against the decision of the South Gauteng High Court on the false SMS dispatched by the DA on the findings of the Public Protector's Report into security upgrades at the President Zuma's private residence. The false accusation of theft made against the President of the ANC was designed to deliberately mislead voters in order to influence the outcome of the 2014 General Elections. The African National Congress has appealed to the Electoral Court to compel the DA to retract their offensive and false statement and apologise to the President of the ANC and the African National Congress. Such behaviour as displayed by the DA is contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Code and the Electoral Act and we are confident that the Electoral Court will act to uphold the integrity of the electoral process in the interest of the country as a whole.
