The Congress
of South African Trade Unions acknowledges all members of the media, who have
applied for accreditation to cover the National May Day Rally at Peter Mokaba
Stadium, Polokwane on the 1st May 2014.
The
Rally will be addressed by SACP General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande, COSATU
President, Cde Sidumo Dlamini and ANC President, Jacob Zuma.
Background
to the 2014 May Day
celebrations:
* COSATU has 27 May Day rallies confirmed for 2014, with some provinces
decentralised while others having centralised rallies due to different dynamics
and experiences in various provinces.
* The CEC in February 2014 adopted the proposal for the Main/National
2014 May Day Rally to be held in Limpopo (Polokwane) at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
* Our preparations for 2014 May Day celebrations has been integrated
with the National and Provincial Government Elections campaign.
* Endorsed Theme: “United action for service, to defend and safeguard
workers unity and rights” is the theme used while taking note of
the ANC election theme: “Together we
move South Africa forward”.

scheduled at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane as follows;

The
task at hand does not end with the ANC winning elections. It goes beyond that
to include, building a vibrant Alliance.

COSATU urge all workers, their families and members of the community to vote
for the African National Congress.

ANC has a proven track record of taking the revolution seriously. It the ANC
which liberated workers in this country when other parties were against the
Labour Relations Act, etc
