ANCWL Calls

on all Women's Organisations and Interested Parties to join hands in

Finding a Way to assist Nigerian School Girls

The African National Congress Women's League, under the leadership of our
President, Angie Motshekga, will provide a platform for all interested
parties and women's NGO's to come together and discuss what actions we, as
South African women can undertake to bring back the kidnapped Nigerian
Schools girls.

The situation does seem extremely volatile so our efforts need to be
measured and thought out as we in no way want to put the girls' lives in
danger. When a situation such as this one comes to light, where our girl
children are in grave danger, this is the time when we need to unite behind
a common goal and purpose. This issue goes beyond the bounds of political or
religious affiliation and it is for this reason that we have opened up this
platform for all organisations to join us.

"The kidnapping of these girls is a travesty of human rights and justice and
as women of the African continent we need to come together and combine our
efforts until these girls are home in the arms of their parents and loved
ones," said Motshekga.

The ANCWL will also invite the Department of International Relations and
Cooperation (DIRCO) to brief the meeting to ensure we are making our
contribution using the most updated information.

Out of this joint meeting, the ANCWL may send a delegation of South African
women to Nigeria if this is deemed necessary.

All are welcome to join the ANCWL
