SADTU West Coast Media Release, 22 May 2014 Dismissal of Ntola We are still shell shocked of the charges and outcome of certainly one of the most corrupt leaders we have seen in this union. When working and analysing the Disciplinary report it was quite clear that Ntola have lost his respect and loyalty a long time ago towards this union. One of the worrying factors is the disregarding of internal processes; remember he is the custodian of the Union constitution. We are furious that the mere fact that he should have set the example when it comes to internal processes, as he was not the first union official that has gone through such a hearing. It's clear that Ntola was behaving like an untouchable and acting like he was above the Union constitution. His relationship with the "conflict driven" Vavi and the way he defended him is clearly that of a leader that claims he is a "true revolutionary" when he is amongst us. But it is all clear now that his relationship with Vavi is/was only there for personal gain and to further his corrupt career. The fact that he never pitched at the Disciplinary hearing speaks of arrogance and the disregard for this union. The charges and allegations speak directly to the corrupt person Ntola have become and therefore was using the union's name to benefit. We are further outraged with the property of R3,5 million bought by service provider for Ntola's family benefit, and the fact that he blackmailed the service provider for even more, the greediness is mind blowing. The Capital Car debacle is the worst considering the fact that we are collectively responsible to look after union resources, in this case Ntola misuse/abuse his position so that his family can benefit. At various Constitutional meetings (NGCs and Congress) Ntola made it clear to all members that he is a communist and following the Marxist/Leninist theories by heart, in fact we come to realize now that he was lying if we look at the demands regarding the R10 000 and also the increase in membership contributions. He was using his communist membership during the day but at night he was just as corrupt as the capitalist he was dealing with by counting his profits and benefits with them. The question is how can we trust such a corrupt individual? The mere fact that he was planning to leave the organisation and already was throwing a business javelin (R100 000 per month) hence preparing himself as a business partner. "Any decision that we are making as revolutionaries should be to the benefit of the working class IF NOT we should REVISIT such a decision" Chris Thembisile Hani. We as WESTCOAST REGION support the outcome of the Chairperson's report as well as the NEC decision to dismiss Ntola and also to suspend him for 10 years. Ntola is corrupt from the outside and is even more corrupt from the inside. We need to congratulate the NEC on the way that they were dealing with this matter, let us keep on defending the centre that keeps us together. No member or leader is above the constitution of our Union. Members must not be fooled by those who have decided to leave the union by using revolutionary rhetoric.
