I hope for dear God that this initiative, a good one if I may add doesn't end
here but it is spread throughout the province; more especially the economic
centres and the border areas.

It is high time that we stop reminding the voters to vote ANC but our actions
must remind them to vote ANC!

SACP Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee, Press Statement, 21 June 2014

SACP Gauteng welcomes meetings

between MEC and community leaders

SACP Gauteng welcomed meetings that took place today between MEC of Human
Settlement and COGTA, comrade Jacob Mamabolo, (who is also SACP Provincial
Secretary) and various community leaders. Meetings followed a request by the
SACP for the MEC to meet these community leaders.

The MEC met with community representatives of Lenasia, Newtown, Tembisa,
Tswelopele Ext 8 and Phumula. SACP is pleased that the MEC afforded these
community leaders the opportunity to engage the MEC on issues that affect
them, and to find a long-lasting solutions to their problem.

The SACP believes that these meetings are consistent with the ANC-led
Alliance principle to hear communities, and to ensure that ANC government
continues to be the only source of hope for our people.

The SACP calls on working-class communities to welcome, support and embrace
the opportunity to hear and engage them on issues affecting them, and to
ensure that this opportunity is fully maximised before engaging in mass
protest.

We also call on working-class communities to refrain from engaging in
violent protests and rather utilise the commitment by the provincial
government to hear and engage them.

The SACP believes that the renewed commitment to engage and hear communities
constitutes a decisive turning point to fight the backward, lumpen and
apartheid culture of violence, destruction of public property, attacks on
houses and families of public representatives.
