Media Statement, 13 July 2014 President Zuma Arrives in Brazil ahead of World Cup Final President Jacob Zuma has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, to attend the FIFA World Cup Final later today, 13 July 2014, at the invitation of the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Her Excellency Ms Dilma Rousseff. The President is in Brazil primarily to attend the Sixth BRICS Summit that will take place in Fortaleza on 15 July and a retreat with Latin American states in Brasilia on 16 July 2014. President Zuma will attend the final match between Germany and Argentina as the host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. "We still have fond memories of the colourful and exciting World Cup tournament we had the privilege of hosting in South Africa in 2010. We feel humbled to have contributed to the 2014 World Cup tournament through providing technical support and sharing our expertise and experience with our BRICS partners, Brazil. We congratulate the government and the people of Brazil for the successful tournament and look forward to an exciting game. May the best team win!'' said President Zuma.
