YCLSA Press Statement, 23 September 2014

YCLSA Calls on the South African government not to grant TB Joshua a visa to
visit our country

The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] calls on the South
African government to deny Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All
Nations a visa to visit our country. To this end, we will engage with the
relevant Department to ensure that he does not set foot in South Africa.

The death toll from the collapse of the church guest house in Lagos has
risen to 115 with 84 South Africans losing their lives in the tragedy. As
the YCLSA we are utterly disgusted that both the Nigerian Government and TB
Joshua have been dragging their feet in launching an investigation into the
tragedy.

It has come to our attention that three storeys were added to the two storey
building without proper a foundation or building plan. We are also enraged
by the slow response to helping to those who were trapped under the rubble.

The YCLSA calls for a transparent investigation into the cause of the
building collapse. This will put to bed all the allegations that it was a
deliberate sabotage. Joshua claims that this was an "attack" somehow linked
to a mysterious aircraft he says flew over the building before it fell down.

Until a thorough and transparent investigation is completed Joshua must not
be welcomed to our shores. Families of the deceased need to know what
happened to their loved ones in order to find closure.

The YCLSA congratulates the South African emergency workers for their
sterling work in the evacuation process.

We would again like to send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the
deceased. We wish them all the strength they need in dealing with this dark
hour. We also wish those who survived the tragedy a speedy recovery.
