Office of the ANC Chief Whip, 17 December 2014 Resignation of SABC Chairperson The Office of the ANC Chief Whip notes and welcomes the resignation today of the Chairperson of the SABC Board Ellen Tshabalala. The resignation follows a recent recommendation by parliament's communications committee that she be placed on suspension while the parliamentary enquiry relating to the falsification of her academic qualification is underway. The resignation further brings to a conclusion the long drawn out saga which unfortunately threatened the integrity and the credibility of the public broadcaster. We are confident that Parliament will swiftly initiate a process in the New Year to fill the vacancy created on the board by this resignation to ensure continued stability at the SABC.
