YCLSA Press Alert, 27 January 2015 YCLSA welcomes Minister's decision on Clive Derby-Lewis The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] welcomes the decision by the Minister of Justice, Minister Michael Masutha, not to grant Clive Derby-Lewis medical parole. As the YCLSA we concur with the Minister that Derby-Lewis does not show any form of remorse. He does not see anything wrong with murdering Cde Chris Hani and does not see any reason to divulge all the necessary details pertaining to the April 10, 1993 assassination. As the YCLSA we continue to hold a very strong view that he has not paid his debt to society and has not repented. It is for these reasons that we strongly believe that he should be kept behind bars. If he has repented he would have disclosed who else he worked with in carrying out the assassination and who he was in cooperation with in drawing up the hit list. We are in the process of writing to the Minister and the President of the country in relation to the inquest we want them to open. We are of the view that an inquest into the death of Cde Hani will shed light on what happened on that faithful day. As members of the YCLSA, the Hani Family, the SACP and the working class of South Africa need closure on this matter.
