As General Secretary of COSATU, Vavi reports to the CEC. Refusal to attend and report is a breach of the General Secretary's principal duty. Meanwhile the COSATU Spokesperson, Patrick Craven, is issuing statements on behalf of the "Group of 8 Cosatu Unions" including NUMSA, which is not a COSATU union. _____
SABC.png Vavi won't attend COSATU CEC meeting SABC2, Johannesburg, March 2015 COSATU general-secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says he will not attend the labour federation's central executive committee (CEC) meeting on Monday. He joins the ranks of seven COSATU affiliates that have vowed to continue to boycott CEC meetings until NUMSA's expulsion from the federation is unconditionally reversed. NUMSA was expelled last year after it refused to [stop poaching members from other COSATU affiliates, in breach of COSATU's founding principle of one industry, one union]. Vavi posted on his Twitter as well Facebook pages that he will not join Monday's CEC meeting saying he does not believe that going ahead with the gathering while half of the affiliates are refusing to attend is the best way to unify the federation. [Vavi's own disciplinary case is still pending.] From: http://www.sabc.co.za/news/a/ceea8a80477e30579364f742d945d4b0/Vavi-wont-atte nd-Cosatu-CEC-meeting-20150203 -- -- You are subscribed.
