Chris Hani Commemoration

22nd Anniversary Event

10 April 2015 will be the 22nd Anniversary of the brutal assassination of
Comrade Chris Hani, who was the General Secretary of the South African
Communist Party (SACP) and a leader of the African National Congress (ANC).

Cde Hani was also Chief of Staff of our People’s Liberation Army, Umkhonto
we Sizwe (MK). He played an outstanding role in our liberation struggle, and
will always be remembered as a disciplined cadre who expressed his views
without fear or favour while observing the principle of democratic
centralism. Democratic Centralism is a supreme principle of revolutionary
discipline. In terms of this principle, individual members and leaders are
subordinate to the organisation and its collective leadership; no one is
above the organisation or outside its sphere of discipline; all members and
leaders must respect and, according to applicable division of work, duties
and responsibilities, implement and defend the decisions of the
organisation. Cde Hani led by example!

A series of commemoration events will be held throughout the month of April,
the Chris Hani Month, across the country.
