Claims of Financial Mismanagement Against EFF Leaders EFF's suspended CFO has raised questions about the credibility of financial reports submitted to Parliament Govan Whittles, Eye Witness News, Johannesburg, 7 April 2015 Scathing allegations of financial mismanagement by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leaders have been laid bare by the party's suspended Chief Financial Officer, Wiekus Kotze, who on Tuesday claimed the EFF made 80 percent of its payments without invoices and did not follow any public finance principals required by law. Kotze said an investigation by high ranking police officers was at an advanced stage and included irregular and questionable payments. Kotze was suspended five months ago and he said this was done illegally and because he was unwilling to make fraudulent transactions. He said the requirements of law with regards to the public finance management act were never met. "I was prevented from carrying out my duties according to the accepted standards of financial accounting. I don't recall ever being asked to load a payment regarding requirements of legislation were met." Kotze said the requirements of law with regards to the Public Finance Management Act were never met. Kotze has also raised questions about the credibility of a financial report submitted to Parliament by the party. "More than 80 percent of payments were not accompanied by invoices." THE EFF RESPONDS The EFF, meanwhile, said allegations of gross financial mismanagement by the party's top leadership had only been levelled by its former CFO because he himself was guilty of fraud and was corrupt. The party's Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said Kotze has a history of fraud. "He was suspended after a hearing where he admitted to all the charges. He tried to move the funds of the organisation into bogus accounts for his personal benefit." Ndlozi also challenged the suspended CFO to produce evidence to back up his claims. "We urge Kotze and all the fraudsters he's surrounded himself with to stop feeding the public with information they cannot substantiate, they must produce evidence."
