Media Alert, 8 April 2015 SADTU-AFT HIV and AIDS PROJECT The media are invited to a press conference by the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) to highlight the excellent work done our learners to curb the spread of HIV and AIDS in South Africa and America as part of the Manenberg Artesia Aids Project (MAAP). The project was launched in July 2011 at Manenberg High School Cape Town when delegates from the American Federation of Teachers and the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) met at Manenberg High school. The project aims to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic through encouraging young people through teen speak to bring awareness amongst their peers at their respective schools. The schools have adopted the sunflower ward at St Josephs Hospital and will be visiting the ward to bring support. The project has seen teacher and learner exchanges. SADTU and Manenberg High School are currently hosting two teachers and four learners from America, in Cape Town. The press conference will take place as follow: . Date: 9 April, 2015 (Thursday) .
