ANC no letters.jpg ANC Media Alert 60 Years of the Freedom Charter Celebrations The African National Congress will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Freedom Charter, a historic document which was canvassed amongst our people in 1955 and later adopted by the ANC. The Freedom Charter encompassed what the people of South Africa wanted any legitimate government to achieve. This document has continued to be a guiding document for the ANC's government in its service delivery programme. The Freedom Charter is a dynamic document that shows that our government listens to our people. This document has been used as a foundation in drafting the National Development Plan (NDP) to ensure that there are synergies between these documents. In recognising the importance of the Freedom Charter, the ANC has declared the year 2015 as "The year of the Freedom Charter and Unity in action to advance Economic Freedom" The event will be addressed by ANC alliance structures and the leagues.
