The SACP Special Central Committee Plenary Session held yesterday decided that the presentations of 'Going to the root' and SACP Organisational Review discussion documents must be open sessions. 'Going to the root' discusses the causes and drivers of the problems of inequality, unemployment and poverty as well as the context, basic content and the strategic tasks of the second, more radical phase of our democratic transition which the ANC-led alliance believes is the way forward. SACP Organisational Review discussion document entitled 'Strengthening the vanguard character of the SACP' reflects on constructive criticism and self-criticism on Party organisation. Constructive criticism and self-criticism are part of the key pillars of our ideological orientation and important components for improvement in Party organisation and performance. The document therefore discusses the review of Party organisation, leadership and membership quality, discipline and self-discipline. These and constant improvement are also part of the key pillars of our Party's ideological orientation. In addition, the document discusses the alliance and the role of the SACP.
