*MISLEADING STATEMENT ON THE COSATU SNC NOT A SASFU POSITION*

SASFU takes note of the desperate tactics employed by some to discredit
COSATU leadership under the disguise of SASFU.

We understand that some non-SASFU members calling themselves (INTT of
SASFU) are using the current problems facing the federation to create a
space and relevance for themselves in the political domain. This small
group of power-hungry individuals failed in trying to form a union in
opposition of SASFU and are now desperately pulling all stunts to be seen
as having a structure that they represent.

SASFU National Office Bearers met on Sunday 05 July 2015 in Pretoria and
expressed a view that SASFU respects the independence of the federation and
will not side with any faction. SASFU had to resign from the federation
because the regulation for the establishment of Military Trade Unions
(MTUs) preclude MTUs from affiliation to a federation of unions outside the
scope of the SANDF and that had led to SASFU deregistration.

Those who continue to use the name of SASFU in furthering their
political ambitions do so because they do not care for the union and should
the registrar of MTUs suspect that SASFU is having political alignments,
deregistration might be applied. That is the main reason they continue to
pull the name of the union in the mud because they want to liquidate, not
only COSATU, but SASFU as the only mouthpiece of the workers clad in
military uniform.
5.
The union leadership understands that NUMSA, SACCAWU and FAWU has
funded a meeting that was called by this group in Bloemfontein but
expressed a view that the funding of any programs will not buy the sole of
SASFU.
6.
We therefore hope that these unions will be careful in using workers’
money to fund people that do not belong to SASFU in the name of SASFU.
