Ecuador on 14 August 2015

Communist University, Johannesburg, 14 August 2015

Ecuador is a country on the Pacific coast of South America, between Colombia
and Peru.

Ecuador has an anti-Imperialist popular government led by President Rafael
Correa.

Ecuador has given asylum to Julian Assange of Wikileaks in its embassy in
London for several years past.

The British government yesterday made a new diplomatic attack on Ecuador
over Assange who is being accused by the Swedish government. Assange and his
supporters have good reasons to believe that the Swedish government is
acting on behalf of the US government.

In Ecuador, an anti-communist trade union federation has called for a
general strike against the government. "Civil Society" NGOs demonstrated
against the government on Wednesday.

It is not clear if there are any grievances or specific demands coming from
these demonstrations, other than the demand for regime change in Ecuador.

This is typical of "regime change" operations. As the process goes along,
any actual demands are forgotten, and replaced by hysteria. Even, or
especially, the demand for elections is put aside in favour of an
inarticulate anarchistic / fascist uproar, with the intention of creating a
political vacuum and blocking rational popular power.

It is not clear if there is any other trade union federation in Ecuador
apart from the anti-communist one that is calling the general strike. It is
also not clear who is supporting the President and the government
politically inside the country. The political economy of the Ecuador (i.e.
the class balance of forces) is not clear from what is in the public realm.

Altogether there is severe lack of information relating to Ecuador.

But the Ecuador "general strike" is not demanding socialism. This much we
can be sure of.

Chiluba / JimVavi-style "Colour Revolution" in Ecuador?

The situation looks like the Chiluba situation as it was in Zambia when
President Kaunda's regime was changed. It looks like a co-ordinated attack.
It looks like what the regime-changers might try to stage in South Africa.

At any one time there are several regime-change scenarios playing out around
the world, all of them essentially propelled by the USA. This is undoubtedly
what is the case in Ecuador.

Neutral reporting of these events is not actually neutral. Neutral
reporting, when only selected facts are available, assists the Imperialists.

Down with Imperialism, down!
